DEC 28/29TH - Lovely restaurant. Food was good. Prices reasonable. Good for families. *not enough staff. Hard to order. Communication breakdown. Hot day not enough fans or air-cond.
Really great value for Jindabyne. Its next to the servo, so probably turns off some people, but inside is nice.
The food seems to be very variable. I came yesterday and had a wonderful Tom Yum soup, and came back again today for the same dish and it was completely different. Although the food has been wonderful, I cannot say the same thing about the service! The service is atrocious. I had to wait 15 min to be seated - not because there weren't free tables or the place was busy, its just that they completely ignored the fact that I was standing there waiting to be seated. I had to approach a waiter and ask to be seated. Later, when the waiter was taking my order he actually started walking away before I had finished ordering. He actually had is back to me and stepping away while I was still asking for an extra bowl of rice and a coke! After the meal was finished and I was standing at the counter to pay, the manager completely ignored me and sat there sorting and resorting menus. It didn't seem like a job that couldn't wait a minute or two. He didn't even acknowledge me, or say "sorry, just a second". He simply ignored me completely and I was standing right in front of him!
The place is cozy, ambience is nice, parking is easy, food was quite good but not very children friendly. The toilet is downstairs which makes it hard for parents with toddlers and babies and there is no changing table. Unfortunately our 2yo did a number 2 and needed a nappy change that night when we were there and it was quite a challenge to change her nappy in the midst of all the extra layers of clothing and the non-existent changing table (and poop possibly dropping out if we're not careful enough :p).Will definitely come back but perhaps when the kids are more toilet trained. Lol!
The ambience of the place definitely deserves a 10/10. The interior decoration with various authentic looking antiques make you enjoy the place. The food and drink variety is decent; most dishes had vegetarian options. I found the usage of English cucumbers instead of zucchini in the curries a bit strange. Food was tasty enough. Overall, it was a nice evening.
